Artificial Sweeteners Mess Up Your Gut Microbiome, So You Won't Be Able to Lose Weight

Recently I stumbled across a study published by Cedars-Sinai, A nonprofit academic healthcare organization.

The research was about how non-sugar sweeteners affect people's intestine microbiome. The Analysis was carried out on non-sugar non-aspartame sweeteners (NANS) and aspartame (ASP) sweeteners alone.

The overall results show a decrease in microbiome diversity. This ultimately alters the composition and function of our gut and negatively affects our overall health.

The report data was also suggesting non-sugar sweeteners won't help with long-term weight loss, perhaps they are more likely to cause serious health issues such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease or even death.

The original report was published in the iScience journal. Give it a read if you are interested in more details about it.

For me, it's definitely worth the read as it single-handedly annihilates people's weight-loss fantasy, as many of them still believe having sugar substitutes is beneficial for controlling their weight.
